AEC 1 - Accredited Engineering Course

This Superyacht Engineer Training Course is designed to give candidates the general fundamentals and knowledge about general care and maintenance to keep engines on smaller vessels in good operational condition. This course is also an excellent addition to any deckhand, mate or captain’s resume.

Classroom Training/Theory Subjects Include:

  • Diesel engines

  • Compression ignition engine (general principles)

  • Cycle of operation and constructional details

  • Fuel system

  • Aspiration Methods: The role of air in the combustion process

  • Cooling system

  • Lubrication system

  • Engine electrical systems

  • Power transmission

  • Hull fittings

  • MARPOL Pollution legislation

  • Code of Safe Working Practices

  • Bottled LPG installations

  • Fault finding and rectification

Superyacht Engineer

Responsibility

The crew member on all speed dials and 2nd in charge, similar to the Captain, a Yacht can not operate without an Engineer. Engineers are responsible for the mechanical and electrical operations of the yacht. This could include a range of jobs such as Engines, Generators, Water Makers, Air-Conditioners, TVs, Refrigerators, jet skis, Powerboats etc.. Don’t forget the stewardesses’ hair dryers and the bosses’ helicopters.
